Education is about exploring yourself and the world with an open mind. At Sedbergh School, the study program is an important activity that students from all school divisions participate in every semester. We plan the study routes according to the cognitive characteristics of students of different age groups.
During this semester's study week, students will go to different destinations and interact with people from different fields. We hope that through the study activities, we can build a powerful platform for students to connect the campus and the society.
Junior School Integrated Curriculum Learning's theme this year focuses on ethnic minorities: Colourful China, United in Harmony. fujian is home to a large population of she ethnic groups, and there is a charming she village in the vicinity of fuzhou. For primary school students, the fastest and most memorable way to learn is to experience it. Teachers chose this destination in the hope that the students would be able to combine the theoretical knowledge of Integrated Curriculum Learning about ethnic minority cultures with practical experience and deepen their understanding of the theme of “Colourful China, United in Harmony”.
Students are looking forward to entering the world of the “She people”, integrating into local life, communicating with She friends and participating in traditional folk activities. In the old county of Shexiang, they traveled through the ancient villages, appreciated the unique architectural style of the She people, and tasted the authentic She cuisine. In the rich and colorful summary of learning, deep understanding of the She culture and thinking.
Inside the She Culture Hall, students visited in an orderly manner. From exquisite costumes to long traditions, every exhibit told of the profoundness of She culture. The rice patties were hot and soft, and when they were dipped in soybean flour and bitten, the aroma of rice ran through their mouths, a feeling of satisfaction that was unforgettable!”
In the She Paper Cutting Workshop, students used their skillful hands to cut out exquisite traditional patterns and appreciate the unique charm of folk art. In the Folklore Sports Meeting, the shouts of tug-of-war rose and fell, and the spirit of unity and cooperation was best interpreted in the competition.
The “mobile classroom” made the knowledge vivid and concrete, and the students gained a new understanding of the She culture.
Middle School students will embark on a four-day study tour of Shanghai with the goal of broadening their international horizons and planning for the future.
During the study period of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, students gained a lot. Walking around the campus, they got to know the famous university under the guidance of their tutors and realized the school spirit of “Thinking of the source of water, loving the country and honoring the university”. Visiting the library of Qian Xuesen, to appreciate the spirit of scientists. Entering Dong Hao Yun Shipbuilding Museum, you will learn the history of maritime development through a large amount of information and make ship models. Face-to-face communication with outstanding seniors and sisters to enhance learning confidence. Visiting the laboratory of Jiaotong University, experiencing the cutting-edge technology and marveling at the latest scientific research achievements.
After the visit to the campus, they visited the Shanghai Center Building, the City God Temple, the Bund and other places, shuttling between tradition and modernity, history and the present.

Senior (Domestic) School students traveled to the familiar seaside city of Xiamen for a 2-day study tour led by three experienced teachers.
At Xiamen University, students visited in an orderly manner the landmark places such as the Furong Tunnel, which is full of artistic atmosphere, and the School History Hall, which carries historical memories. Everyone had an effective communication with the warm and friendly seniors, who unreservedly shared their learning experience in high school, their adjustment methods when facing pressure, and the colorful life in the university.
The study trip can't only be about serious learning and communication. When you come to Fantasyland, there is no endless homework, no endless exams, but only laughter and screaming. In the busy school, such a moment is particularly precious, enjoy the joy and freedom of youth.
